Manual to Treating a Broken Heart

Before leaving the house, my mother
would hide in my pockets a needle and thread.
She said it took fifty-seven stitches
to mend a broken heart.

In Paris, there’s a man that writes
the word amour in every street.
I’ve heard he’s trying to forget the woman
he gave his love to.

When Adam visited my apartment at 2am
complaining of chest pains,
he insisted on visiting the hospital.
He didn’t need a Doctor’s diagnosis.
I checked his pockets,
they were empty.
